Born in Ridgecrest, California, he served in the U.S. Navy from 2013 to 2018 and holds a Master of Public Administration from Utah Valley University. His background includes service as a caseworker for Senator Mike Lee and he recently commissioned into the U.S. Army. Hatfield champions constitutional principles, limited government, and no new taxes, advocating for public land access. He is also president of the Utah Trail Association. He lost in the Republican convention for the 2026 Congressional race.
