Congressman Shri Thanedar represents Michigan's 13th Congressional District, encompassing much of Wayne County and Detroit. A native of India, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1979 and earned a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Akron. Before entering politics, Thanedar worked as a researcher and entrepreneur, building successful small businesses. Prior to his election to the U.S. House in 2022, he served in the Michigan House of Representatives and ran for Governor of Michigan in 2018.
