Susan Dickenson graduated from High Point Central High School and earned a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1982. Following graduation, she worked in public communications and digital management in Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia. She worked for H. Ross Perot during the launch of Perot Systems. Dickenson retired in 2020 as editor in chief of Home Accents Today. After retirement, she co-launched the digital trade publications Home News Now and Decor News Now. She is also the editor and founder of The Jamestowner.
