Umar Usman is a Pakistani-American community advocate and candidate for U.S. Congress representing New York's 11th Congressional District. Immigrating to Brooklyn in 2003, Usman later earned a degree in criminal justice from John Jay College. He has built a career in public service, having worked as an assistant to the Brooklyn Borough President. Additionally, Usman is the founder of Helping Hand of Brighton, a nonprofit organization that supported South Brooklyn residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
