Bill Saffo is the longest-serving mayor in Wilmington's history, having held the office since being appointed in 2006. A native of Wilmington, he graduated from Hoggard High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. In addition to his mayoral duties, Saffo works as a real estate agent. He was first elected to the Wilmington City Council in 2003.
