Wesley Bell is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Missouri's 1st Congressional District since January 2025. Raised in North St. Louis County, he is the son of a police officer and a county civil servant. A graduate of Hazelwood East High School, Lindenwood University, and the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, he worked as a St. Louis County public defender, a criminology professor at Florissant Valley Community College, a municipal court judge in Velda City, and a municipal prosecutor in Riverview. Elected to the Ferguson City Council in 2015, he helped implement police and court reforms following the 2014 Ferguson protests. In 2018 he became the first Black person elected St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney, serving from 2019 to 2025. He is running for reelection in 2026.
