William Stone Cowsert, known as Bill Cowsert, is a Republican politician from Georgia, currently serving as a State Senator for the 46th district. He holds the distinction of being the most senior member of the Senate Republican Caucus. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1958 and raised in Macon, Georgia, he pursued higher education, earning a B.S. degree from Presbyterian College, followed by a J.D. degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. A practicing attorney, Cowsert established the Athens-based law firm of Cowsert & Avery.
