Prior to his judicial career, Wood served for nearly 30 years in the Guilford County District Attorney's office as an assistant district attorney, where he specialized in prosecuting violent crimes. He earned his undergraduate degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University and his J.D. from the North Carolina Central School of Law.
