Zack Hawkins is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing the 31st district since January 1, 2019. He grew up in Chocowinity, North Carolina, and has lived in Durham for two decades. Hawkins earned a B.S. in Biology from Elizabeth City State University and an M.S. in Biology from North Carolina Central University. His professional experience includes working as a teacher in Durham Public Schools and as a development and advancement professional for non-profits and higher education institutions, including UNC-Chapel Hill. Prior to his election, he served as the 1st Vice Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party. He lives in Durham with his wife, Tracey, and their three sons.
