Alfonso H. Lopez has been a member of the Virginia House of Delegates since 2012. He represents the 3rd district, which includes parts of Arlington and Alexandria City. Lopez is the first Latino Democrat elected to the Virginia General Assembly. He previously served as an official in the Obama administration and as a cabinet-level appointee in Governor Tim Kaine's administration. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College and a Juris Doctor from Tulane University. He currently chairs the House Agriculture, Chesapeake, and Natural Resources Committee.
