Bell is a career prosecutor who has served as the Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Hampton since being elected in 2012, becoming the first African-American to hold the position. A lifelong resident of Hampton Roads, he graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School, received a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Norfolk State University, and earned his Law Degree with honors from North Carolina Central School of Law. Prior to his election, he was a prosecutor of violent crimes, homicides, and child molestation cases in Hampton and also served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. He is also an ordained minister.
