Barry McClure is a candidate for Town of Murphy Town Council in Murphy, North Carolina — 2025 General Election. Running as Nonpartisan.

Barry McClure moved to Murphy in 1987 and began a career in education at Murphy High School. He has taught at both the high school and middle school levels and served as an assistant principal at all three Murphy schools. He was the principal of Murphy Middle School until his retirement in 2016. Post-retirement, he worked part-time in various capacities, including as principal of The Oaks Academy and as an assistant principal for Cherokee County Schools of Innovation. He was first elected to the Murphy Town Council in 2013 and is seeking his fourth term.
