Bill Borchert has been a resident of Slidell for over 50 years. He graduated from St. Paul's High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana Tech. He was elected to the Slidell City Council in 2008 and served as Councilman and later Councilman-At-Large for 16 years. Following the resignation of Mayor Greg Cromer, Borchert, as the Councilman-at-Large with the most votes, was sworn in as Mayor in January 2025. Before his public service, he owned and managed three businesses in Slidell. After Hurricane Katrina, he converted his garage into a dormitory for over 2,000 volunteers, which led him to public service. He and his wife, Laura, have three daughters and two grandchildren.
