Brett V. "Cannon" Watson is a lifelong resident of Prince Edward County. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in international studies. Since 1992, he has worked at Davenport & Company, where he is a Senior Vice President for Investments. Watson was appointed to the Board of Supervisors in July 2022 to fill a vacant seat for District 7 and subsequently won an election on November 8, 2022, to retain the position. He is active in several local organizations, including the Farmville Rotary Club and Farmville United Methodist Church. His father previously represented the same district on the board.
