Burhan Azeem is serving his second term on the Cambridge City Council and is the youngest councilor in the city's history. He is a graduate of MIT with a Bachelor of Science. Before his election in 2021, he worked as a software engineer. Azeem's family immigrated from Pakistan when he was young. He co-founded the statewide housing nonprofit Abundant Housing Massachusetts.
