Cheryl Littlejohn was appointed to the Ward 4 seat by the Gastonia City Council on January 7, 2025. A graduate of Hunter Huss High School, she earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she was part of the first national championship women's basketball team under coach Pat Summitt. She is also a graduate of the FBI Academy. Her professional background includes serving as a basketball coach at several universities and as the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Gastonia. Littlejohn is a business owner, operating Smith's Soul Food Bistro and Legacy Event Center, and works as a life coach and mentor.
