Christopher R. Swanson is a career law enforcement officer who has served as the Sheriff of Genesee County, Michigan, since 2020 [1.10]. Having joined the sheriff's office in 1991, he has worked across multiple divisions, including patrol, narcotics, and command operations. As sheriff, Swanson founded the G.H.O.S.T. unit to combat human trafficking and launched the I.G.N.I.T.E. program, an inmate education initiative. He holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Michigan. He is a Democratic candidate for Governor of Michigan.
