Colette Wallace McEachin is the incumbent Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Richmond, first elected in November 2019. She is the first woman and first African-American woman to hold this position. McEachin has over 25 years of experience in the Richmond Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, previously serving as the Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney. In that role, she supervised prosecutors in the General District Courts and also handled felony sexual assault cases. She has prosecuted a wide range of crimes, from domestic violence to homicide. McEachin earned her undergraduate degree from Brown University and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law. She is the widow of the late state senator and congressman Donald McEachin.
