He began his career in the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office in 1992. He grew up in a Navy family and moved to Virginia Beach in 1971. He graduated from Cape Henry Collegiate in 1988 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1992. Stolle became an attorney through the Virginia Law Reading Program and was hired as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in 1996. He was promoted to Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney in 2004 and Chief Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney in 2005.
