Dana D. Burnett

Dr. Dana Burnett had a 44-year career at Old Dominion University (ODU), retiring on September 1, 2016. He began at ODU in 1972 as the Director of Financial Aid and Placement after serving as a commissioned U.S. Naval officer. He later became Dean of Student Affairs in 1974 and Vice President for Student Affairs in 1984, a role he held for over 30 years before transitioning to the Higher Education Program in 2006, where he served as department chair and faculty member. His contributions to student affairs have been recognized with awards such as the Virginia Student Services Legacy Award and the Robert H. Shaffer Distinguished Alumnus Award from his alma mater, Indiana University.
