His public service began with an appointment to the Roanoke County Planning Commission, where he served from 2007 to 2012. He was appointed to the Board of Supervisors in November 2018 to fill a vacancy and was subsequently elected to the position. He has served as Chairman of the Board in 2020 and 2025.
