David (Dave) W. Craven Jr. is a native of Randolph County, North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he was elected Student Body President and served on the Board of Trustees, graduating with degrees in Accounting, Finance, and Political Science. Prior to his legislative career, Craven served as the Senior Vice President at Fidelity Bank, focusing on business development. He was appointed to the State Senate in July 2020 to fill a vacancy and was subsequently elected. He is the youngest serving Republican member of the North Carolina Senate.
