Elizabeth K. "Libby" Humphries

Elizabeth K. "Libby" Humphries has served as the Fredericksburg Commonwealth's Attorney since August 1, 2021. She began her career in public service at the Fredericksburg Public Defender Office before working as a prosecutor in the Charlottesville Commonwealth's Attorney Office from 1999 to 2018. In 2018, she joined the Fredericksburg prosecutor's office as a supervising deputy commonwealth's attorney. She earned her law degree from the University of Virginia and her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College. Humphries has extensive experience as a trial attorney, prosecuting violent crimes including homicides and sexual assaults. She lives in Fredericksburg with her husband.
