Erik Valera is a nonprofit consultant and practicing artist who moved to Chapel Hill in 2007. He has over 30 years of experience in public service, holding leadership roles at El Centro Hispano, CommunityWorx, and Youth Forward. His background is in public health, having worked as a research project manager at UNC's School of Medicine and as a program director for the Latino Commission on AIDS.
