Frederick Missel

Frederick 'Fred' Missel is the Director of Design and Development for the University of Virginia Foundation, a role he has held since November 2000. He is also an educator, serving as an adjunct faculty member at the UVA School of Architecture. His public service includes over 15 years on local boards, including as the former Chair of the Albemarle County Architectural Review Board and the current Chair of the Planning Commission. Prior to his work with the foundation, he spent ten years in private-sector civil engineering and landscape architecture. Missel holds a Master of Landscape Architecture and a Master of Urban + Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia, as well as an undergraduate degree from Albright College. He and his wife raised their two daughters in Albemarle County.
