Garrett L. Dillard joined the Board of Supervisors on January 1, 2022. He graduated from Laurel Park High School in 1989 and earned a B.S. in Social Science from Radford University in 1993. He later received a Master's Degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro in 2008. His career has been in education, starting as a social studies teacher and coach. He has served as a head basketball coach, assistant principal, and as the principal of Bassett High School, becoming the first African American to hold that role. He was also selected as the first Director of Community Learning for Henry County Public Schools. He grew up in Sandy Level, VA, and is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and serves on the Piedmont Community Services Board.
