Gumersindo M. Gomez is a decorated U.S. Army veteran who served for 20 years, including a tour in Vietnam. After retiring from the military in 1986, he moved to Springfield, Massachusetts, and has been a dedicated advocate for veterans. In 1987, he founded the Bilingual Veterans Outreach Centers of Massachusetts to provide support to veterans and their families. His community involvement also includes serving on the Springfield City Council. He is the father of Adam Gomez, the first Puerto Rican State Senator in Massachusetts.
