A lifelong resident of Norfolk, he earned his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary and his law degree from the University of Virginia. His career includes serving as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia, where he focused on consumer protection. As a litigator, Jones has represented the Virginia NAACP in a voting rights case against the Youngkin administration and served on the board of Virginia Planned Parenthood. His father, Jerrauld C. Jones, served in all three branches of Virginia's state government, including in the General Assembly and as a Circuit Court judge.
