Jonathan A. Lanford has over twenty years of experience in local government management. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Roanoke Valley Resource Authority in late 2023. Previously, he served as Assistant County Administrator in Botetourt County. He had a long tenure in Alleghany County government, serving as County Administrator from 2016 to 2021, Assistant County Administrator for eight years prior, and also as County Engineer and Director of Public Works. His early career included roles with the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
