Joseph H. "Jody" Early III is a Colonel in the Virginia Air National Guard, serving as the vice commander of the 192D Fighter Wing at Joint Base Langley-Eustis. He was commissioned in 1981 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences. A command pilot with over 3,500 flying hours, he separated from active duty in 1988 to become a pilot for US Airways and joined the Virginia Air National Guard.
