Joshua Elrod

Joshua Elrod is the incumbent Commonwealth's Attorney for Buena Vista. He was first appointed to the position on an interim basis in May 2019, won a special election in the fall of 2019, and was re-elected for his first full term in 2021. Before becoming the Commonwealth's Attorney, Elrod was in private practice in the Rockbridge area for 20 years and also served as Lexington's city attorney. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1990, received his undergraduate degree from Wooster College, and earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. He has served on boards for Habitat for Humanity, Yellow Brick Road Early Learning Center, and the Rockbridge Area Recreation Organization.
