Juan Mazuera Arias is a candidate for Charlotte City Council District 5 in Charlotte, North Carolina — 2025 General Election. Running as Democratic Party.

Juan Diego "JD" Mazuera Arias is a public servant, organizer, and policy advocate. He is a formerly undocumented, queer, Latino immigrant from Colombia who grew up in East Charlotte. He attended local public schools, including East Mecklenburg High School, before earning a full scholarship to Queens University of Charlotte, where he received a B.A. in Political Science. He later earned a Master of Public Administration from New York University's Wagner School of Public Service as a Bloomberg Public Service Fellow. His career includes working for the Democratic National Committee, serving as a Legislative Fellow in the office of U.S. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and working as a Senior Government Affairs Assistant at The Century Foundation. He currently serves as Chair of the Hispanic Democratic Caucus of Mecklenburg County.
