Karen I. Rose was first elected as the Harrisonburg Commissioner of the Revenue in November 2013. Prior to her election, she served as the Chief Deputy for the same office starting in January 2009. Her previous experience includes roles as a Supervising Senior Accountant for KPMG, Controller for The Harmon Companies, and a part-time Accountant. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. Rose earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University in 1984 and a Master Commissioner of the Revenue from the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia in 2017.
