Katjana Ballantyne

Katjana Ballantyne is the incumbent Mayor of Somerville, first elected in 2021. She has a background of over 30 years in international business, non-profits, and government. Before becoming mayor, she served for eight years on the Somerville City Council, including two terms as Council President. Her work has focused on affordable housing, workforce development, and environmental justice. Born in Greece, she was adopted and immigrated to the United States at age four. She was the first in her family to attend college, earning a BA and an MBA.
