Lorena Tovar is a resident of Framingham and a parent of two children, one currently in the Barbieri school and another who will soon enter Pre-K. She immigrated from Mexico 20 years ago and has been employed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for over 15 years, where she currently runs the Master in City Planning program. Tovar's husband's family has resided in Framingham for more than a century. She was motivated to run for the School Committee after volunteering to help Framingham Public Schools in their search for an Assistant Superintendent and noticing that initially no one had entered the race for the District 2 seat.
