Makayla Venable is a lifelong resident of the Shenandoah Valley, born in Charlottesville and a graduate of Staunton High School. She has worked as a healthcare professional, including as a phlebotomist and home health aide, and as a factory worker. Venable is currently pursuing a degree in political science from Arizona State University. She has been involved with the Staunton and Waynesboro branches of the NAACP and the Blue Ridge Young Democrats. Her campaign was inspired by her work getting out the vote and her desire for leadership that reflects the values and struggles of working-class people.
