Mark R. Armentrout is a lifelong resident of Radford and has served as the city's Sheriff since being elected in November 2004. He has been re-elected for multiple subsequent terms. Under his leadership, the Radford Sheriff's Office achieved state accreditation in 2006, becoming the smallest agency in Virginia to do so at the time, and has maintained it since.
