He earned a B.S. in Political Science from Appalachian State University in 1999 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law in 2003. His legal career began at the Public Defender's Office for the City of Roanoke. Afterwards, he served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Salem for five years. In 2013, he joined the Law Offices of Harry F. Bosen, Jr., P.C. He has been the Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney for the past nine years under the retiring incumbent, Tom Bowers. Pollard announced his candidacy for the position in June 2025.
