Melvin Henson is the most senior member of the Buena Vista City Council, having served since 2010. He is seeking his fifth term. Previously, he worked in the Buena Vista Public Works Department for over 33 years and has been involved with the Buena Vista Fire Department for more than 45 years. He also serves on the Planning Commission.
