Michael D. Sutphin is a candidate for Mayor of Blacksburg General Election in 2025 in Blacksburg, Virginia. Running as Non-partisan.

Michael D. Sutphin has lived in Blacksburg since 2002, when he arrived as a student at Virginia Tech. He earned a bachelor's degree in communication in 2006. His professional career has included roles in communications and public relations for two colleges at Virginia Tech and as a communications manager for Community Housing Partners, a nonprofit focused on affordable housing. He was first elected to the Blacksburg Town Council in 2011, becoming the youngest person to serve on the council. He is currently serving his fourth term and is the town's Vice Mayor. Sutphin has also been active in LGBTQ+ advocacy, serving on the board of Equality Virginia.
