Is this you? Claim this profileMichael J. Newman is the incumbent Commonwealth's Attorney for Danville, first elected in 2009 and subsequently reelected in 2013, 2017, and 2021. A fourth-generation Danvillian, he graduated from George Washington High School in 1989. He earned a bachelor of arts in political science from Mary Washington College in 1993 and his juris doctorate from George Mason University School of Law in 1996. His career began in the Danville Commonwealth Attorney's Office from 1998 to 2001. He later served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in Pittsylvania County from 2001 to 2004 before returning to Danville as a City Attorney in 2005 and then as a Senior Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney prior to his election.
