Michael P. Cahill was born and raised in Beverly, Massachusetts. He graduated from Beverly High School in 1979, earned a degree in Political Science from Middlebury College in 1983, and later a law degree from Suffolk University Law School. His career began in education, teaching in Beverly and Ipswich public schools. In 1992, Cahill was elected as Beverly's State Representative, a role he held for ten years. He also served on the Beverly City Council as Council President. Cahill was first elected as the 34th Mayor of Beverly in 2013 and has served since January 2014.
