His professional experience includes farming, owning and operating several businesses in grading, landscaping, and real estate development, and working for the non-profit organization Samaritan's Purse in North Wilkesboro. He is a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, having assumed office in October 2024. He has been married to his wife, Angie, for 27 years, and they have two children.
