Mo Seifeldein

Mo Seifeldein, a Democrat, is running for the U.S. House to represent Virginia's 8th Congressional District in 2026. He previously served on the Alexandria City Council from 2019 to 2021, making him the first Sudanese American elected to the position. An attorney with degrees from Old Dominion University and Florida Coastal School of Law, he resigned from the U.S. Department of Labor, citing protest against Trump administration policies, to launch his congressional bid. While on the City Council, Seifeldein sponsored Virginia's first independent Community Police Review Board and helped establish the 8 Corps program. He emphasizes his working-class background and advocates for "moral clarity," "economic change," and a new generation of leadership to challenge the status quo, relying on grassroots support.
