Ramin Fatehi has served as the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney since January 1, 2022. A native of Hampton Roads, he was born in Suffolk, Virginia. His family moved to Tehran, Iran, when he was a baby and returned to Hampton Roads when he was seven. He graduated from Norfolk Academy, earned a bachelor's degree in history from Yale University in 2000, and a J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2003. His legal career includes serving as a law clerk for the Virginia Supreme Court, an Assistant Public Defender in Richmond, an associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in Chesapeake, and a Special Assistant United States Attorney. He has been a prosecutor since 2006 and began working in the Norfolk prosecutor's office in 2012.
