Robert L. Dickerson is the current mayor of Pearisburg and was first elected to the position in 2011. Prior to becoming mayor, he was elected to the Town Council in 2004 and served on the Planning Commission. Dickerson is a lifelong resident of Pearisburg, a graduate of Giles High School and James Madison University, and is retired from Volvo Trucking. He also works as a substitute teacher at Giles County High Schools and Giles County Vocational School. He is married with two daughters and seven grandchildren.
