Rozia A. "J.R." Henson, Jr. was born and raised in Woodbridge, Virginia. He earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Virginia State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College. His professional experience includes working as a federal contractor and Program Manager for the Department of Homeland Security, as well as being a small business consultant. In 2023, he was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates, becoming the first openly gay Black man to serve in the Virginia General Assembly. He has served on the Prince William County Democratic Committee and as a Commissioner of the Historical Commission appointed by the Woodbridge District Supervisor.
