Ryan S. LaFountain is the incumbent Commissioner of the Revenue for the City of Roanoke. He was born in Plattsburgh, New York, and moved to Roanoke in 2014. LaFountain earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Baldwin Wallace University in 2007 and a Master of Business Administration from Virginia Tech in 2022. Prior to his election, he worked for 14 years in the credit union industry in various roles, from teller to management. He is a member of the Roanoke Kiwanis Club and has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.
