Shannon Jones

Shannon Jones is an attorney who has served in both the Newport News Commonwealth's Attorney's Office and the City Attorney's Office. She is a graduate of Howard University School of Law. In June 2025, she won the Democratic primary for Newport News Commonwealth's Attorney, defeating the incumbent who had held the office for over 30 years. With no Republican challenger, she is on track to become the next Commonwealth's Attorney for the city. Jones is also the founder of the nonprofit organization STARS (Student Trial Advocates Reaching for Success), which mentors high school students.
