Stephanie N. Morales is the first woman to be elected Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Portsmouth, first taking office in 2015. She was re-elected in 2017 and 2021. A Portsmouth native, she graduated from I.C. Norcom High School, Norfolk State University (magna cum laude), and William & Mary Law School. Before becoming Commonwealth's Attorney, she worked as a prosecutor. Her tenure has focused on a community prosecution model.
